Starting equipment is not a safe guarantee
A recent player test describes reinforcement selection from a same-class pool, rather than always copying the individual in the deployed slot. That report corrected its earlier suggestion that leaving Quest Board recruits locked would shrink the pool.
Do not skip recruitment objectives solely to control incoming gear. Being able to edit a unit and being eligible to appear in the reinforcement pool are different questions.
A useful equipment checklist
- Note the class you are recruiting and the weapon you expect.
- Inspect editable members of that class as well as the units in the starting formation.
- When the Chorus joins, check the actual incoming unit’s weapon and level before relying on a build interaction.
- If you compare two cases, keep the game version, class and individual distinct; a similar-looking class is not necessarily the same Cobun.
Do not plan around guaranteed inheritance
Older players also described basic weapons appearing despite upgraded starting equipment, including a case where edited units all carried ice weapons but a different weapon still appeared. Equipping every editable member is therefore not a guaranteed workaround.
Treat reinforcements as additions whose actual gear you should inspect, rather than assuming a fixed weapon, level or complete inheritance rule across every mode.
